Actor and comedian Robin Williams has died in an apparent suicide. Police said the 63-year-old entertainer was found dead in his home in Tiburon, California. His publicist said Williams had recently battled severe depression.
Robin Williams’ wife Susan Schneider released a statement saying she was “heartbroken.” She asked for privacy for Williams’ family members as they grieve.
Robin Williams rose to fame in the late seventies in the television series “Mork and Mindy.” He starred in many movies in the years that followed. Many were comedies but the actor also gained respect for his dramatic parts in films including “Good Morning Vietnam,” “Dead Poets Society” and “Good Will Hunting.” He won an Academy Award for his performance in that 1997 movie.
